For sale here is a Paul H. Young 9' 2/3 6wt parabolic bamboo rod. Made in 1951. The rod is in excellent restored condition. The restoration was performed by the masterful hands of Bob Summers. The rod is likely a Nymph model as per the 1952 catalog. The rod originally had one tip. The two extra tip sections were made in the mid-2000's by Mike Brooks. All sections are full length with a slight set in one of the later-made tips.
Richly flame-mottled cane with solid rose wraps and yellow decorative spiral wraps. Bright guides and blued ferrules. The script on the rod is in Bob Summers' hand and reads,
"Paul H. Young Maker Detroit 51"
"Parabolic 9' 16/64 Fer. 5/64 TipTop 4.25 oz. HDG"
The cigar grip measures 6 3/4" in length with moderate soiling and light ridging. Aluminum down-locking reel seat over a cork spacer. PHY Detroit stamp on the butt cap. The Gus Pernack-made ferrules are size 16/64 with a perfect fit. The rod weighs 5.40 oz. Medium-fast action and best with a six weight line. Includes a rod bag made by Evie Summers and the original tube. A terrific rod Paul H. Young rod and a 6wt cannon!
