For sale here is a Paul H. Young Parabolic 15 bamboo rod. The rod is in excellent condition though it does have a few odd issues. The script on the butt section is in Bob Summers' hand while the script on the WET tip is in Paul Young's hand. The second tip appears to be a replacement and is without any script. The third guide up on the WET tip has fallen off and will be included with the rod; the tip-top on the tip is a replacement. The wraps are different shades on all three sections. The varnish on a few of the guides is beginning to become brittle. Lastly, the rod displays all-over wear consistent with years of honest fishing. All sections are full length with slight sets in both tips.
The rod features deeply mottle-flamed cane though the replacement tip features a slightly darker appearance. Both Paul's and Summers' script remains clean and bold. The original full wells grip 6" in length and is heavily worn. Black aluminum down-locking reel seat over a mortised cork spacer with a blued nickel silver butt cap. The butt cap features the PHY stamp, much of the bluing has worn off. The Super-Z brand ferrules fit together nice and tight, as they should. The rod weighs 4.25 oz. with the WET tip and 4.15 with the replacement tip. The parabolic action is wonderful, medium-fast and authoritative for a 5 or 6 weight line. Perfect for larger dry flies.
Includes an original early bag and the original tube. Despite the issues, this is still a highly sought after rod deserving a good home.
