For sale here is a Paul H. Young Parabolic 15 bamboo rod. The rod was built for Hazel Johnson by Paul Young in 1950 and is not serial numbered. Hazel Johnson tied flies for the Paul H. Young Rod Co. for ~ 30 years (and also performed the role of babysitter for Paul Jr. and Jack!) Hazel's son also told me that the great Ted Williams would come in the PHY Rod Co. shop and watch Hazel tie flies. This rod and two others (a Martha Marie made by Bob Summers in the 1960s and a Prosperity model) come directly from the Johnson family. Mr. Young rarely inked "From The Youngs" on his rods and only did so for very special friends. The rod is in near mint restored condition. Bob Summers restored the rod in 1995 and it doesn't appear to have been used since then. The step-down size 15/64 ferrule fit is perfect. All cork reel seat with nickel silver stamped cap and ring. The rod weighs 3 3/4 oz. The overall length is 7 feet 11 inches, more than likely how it came out of the Young shop. Original bag and tube. A very sought-after rod model from one of the best, complete with a provenance letter from the Johnson family.
