For sale here is a Paul H. Young "Perfectionist" Model -- 7'6" 2/2 4wt bamboo fly rod. Serial no. 4733. Made in 1979 most likely by Jack Young. The rod is in excellent+ original condition having only had one owner in its lifetime. All sections are full length and have never been repaired.
The rod features the signature PHY mottle-flamed look that appeals to so many. Deep mahogany wraps blend well for an understated look. Blued guides. Carbide stripping guide. The script, in Jack Young's hand, remains clean and bold. It reads, First flat: A Paul H. Young Co. Rod Second flat: Perfectionist - 7'6" - 2 3/4 oz. Third flat: #4733
Garrison-style hook keeper. Full wells grip with only the lightest soiling. Black aluminum dual sliding band reel seat with a mortised cork spacer. The Swiss-style ferrules are size 12/64 with an excellent fit, nice and snug. The action is medium-fast with excellent recovery and best suited for a four-weight line. The rod weighs in at a lean 2.95 oz. Includes original satin bag showing only light wear. Often times these bags are quite worn due to the delicate nature of the material. Also includes the original Champion-style tube. This is an excellent example of a Perfectionist as well as being rather interesting and unique. Don't miss the chance to own it.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
