For sale here is a Paul H. Young "Texas General" bamboo rod, complete with original bag and tube. The rod is in excellent condition. Serial #2117 built by Paul Young in 1957. Ferrule fit is perfect. This rod is 8 feet, 7 3/8 inches long -- the original length as detailed in a letter from Bob Summers included with the sale. Suited best for a 7 weight with the dry tip and an 8 weight line with the wet tip. The tips are about an inch shorter than the butt section; according to Bob, originally how it was made. Custom shaped grip with thumb indentation is in great shape and super comfortable. Rod weighs 5.5 oz with the wet tip and 5.4 oz with the dry tip. I'll let the pictures supply the rest of the description. Bob has recently done some work on the rod, including 1) replaced one fraying wrap on one of the tips, 2) cleaned and slightly sanded the grip, 3) filled in a minor seam/glue line in the butt section and re-varnished this section, and 4) replaced the moisture plug at the base of the male ferrule on one of the tips.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
